Dan Moeller – A Man Who Was Humble and Selfless
Dan Moeller was an unassuming and generous individual, always prioritizing family before anything else. An active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, he assisted at Lenten fish frys. Additionally, he volunteered as cross country and track coach at nearby schools.
Early Life and Education
Moeller was born in Fraser, Michigan and attended Ferris State University for his education. An accomplished drummer himself, Moeller has performed with various musicians over time as he also wrote songs and produced music. Additionally, Alaina Marie who is herself an established singer/songwriter serves as his wife.
Moeller began his professional baseball career by hitting.229 for Burlington Flint Hills of Iowa State League. Later he would switch over to Rochester Americans of American League.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife Marleen; daughter Mona (Doug) Zeeck-Cavour; sons Daniel and Dar; grandkids Brody and Grace as well as great grandkids, nieces, and nephews. Unfortunately he was predeceased by both of his parents who will surely be missed by many friends.
Professional Career
Daniel Moeller is an exceptional dentist in Columbus, Texas who has made an indelible mark on the community. Offering preventive care, restorative treatments and cosmetic procedures he utilizes state-of-the-art techniques and equipment for an enjoyable patient experience.
In 2021-22, he shepherded Ossyana Ozoani to become a first-ever NCCAA Division I All-American for the program while Lexi Hernandez earned Honorable Mention accolades. Additionally, he sits on several MACU committees and regularly attends women’s leadership education conferences.
Daniel’s hobbies include welding art pieces and stone masonry; he has built three fireplaces for friends and family members using this expertise. Furthermore, Daniel enjoys flying as well as reading Mother Earth News magazine in his free time.
Achievement and Honors
Daniel Moeller has experienced tremendous success as both a player and coach. Now the Athletic Director at Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, Daniel has overseen an unprecedented transformation of its sports programs.
Moeller has led his men’s team to two consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference titles while helping the women’s squad reach its inaugural SAC tournament final. On top of these impressive accomplishments, his student-athletes have excelled both academically and athletically.
MACU athletes earned an unprecedented number of spots on the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll this year. A record number – 138 student-athletes made it up from 39 in 2014-15; an increase of 133%! Dan has also performed many acts of charity such as volunteering at youth football games and adopting highways through Adopt-A-Highway program.
Personal Life
Dan was deeply dedicated to his family and frequently put them first. As a loving husband, father, and grandfather he enjoyed golfing, four-wheeling, garage sales and spending time with his dogs. Additionally he was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he volunteered many roles ranging from coaching cross country and track to working the Lenten fish fries and helping out with new additions in church.
Daniel previously held a law clerk position with Honorable Judge C.J. Williams of the U.S. District Court for Iowa Northern District and was responsible for conducting research, drafting legal documents and providing assistance on various legal matters. Additionally he worked as a marketing intern with Sony Music Entertainment before enrolling at Baruch College to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration.

Moeller is an attentive husband and musician who assists his wife Alaina Marie Scott with her songs. He regularly performs with her at live shows as well as accompanying her on tour; furthermore he assists in the production and arrangement of her music.
He became well-known during his seven-year major league career with the Washington Senators as an impressive base thief and deft leadoff man, known for stealing bases quickly while deftly leading off. Additionally, he was known as an excellent selective hitter – twice ranking among league leaders for walks while calling third strikes often.
He has several siblings; however, their identities remain undisclosed to the media. He currently resides in Michigan with his devoted family including wife Alaina Marie Scott.
