Dr Ramos Villar has made significant contributions to Azorean and Portuguese American literature, co-edited a volume with John Kinsella, Sheila Khan and Ana Margarida Dias Martins on postcolonial debates in the Lusophone World as well as teaching various undergraduate and MA modules related to Portuguese Studies.
Daniel is an Innovation Lead at Coventry University’s Disruptive Media Learning Lab, specialising in Digital Fluency and Open Knowledge. Additionally, he acts as the APS Ethics Coordinator, overseeing papers on peer review.

In 2019, he took part in the Netflix series Monarca, co-produced by Salma Hayek, Lemon Studios and Stern Castle; Esto no es Berlin directed by Hari Sama; cortometraje Zerch which won first prize at Feratum Festival 2015, as well as Mariposa which will premiere later in 2019.
