Who is Daniel Wichs?
Daniel Wichs is a Senior Scientist for NTT Research and Associate Professor of Northeastern University. Daniel Wichs is an associate professor in Northeastern University’s Khoury College of Computer Science. After earning his PhD at New York University in 2011, he went on to be a postdoctoral researcher at IBM TJ Watson Research Center from 2011-13; winning both an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship and Josef Raviv Memorial Postdoctoral Fellowship along the way. Daniel’s research covers all aspects of modern cryptography – its theoretical foundations as well as applications to information security.
His research in leakage resilience cryptography seeks to prevent hackers from extracting useful information from devices, while simultaneously exploring the cryptographic challenges involved with outsourcing data and computation to the cloud, including creating homomorphic encryption and signature schemes that enable cloud computation on digitally encrypted and signed data while upholding privacy and authenticity.
Wichs is both a family man and active participant in his community. Married to Rebecca and raising two children together, his warm and kind disposition has earned him respect from everyone who knows him.
