Jim Mooers, his friend, remembered him as having an interest in aviation that began at age 18. At that time he took up flying lessons and passed along his knowledge to many young people aspiring to fly – including himself!

Professional Career

Dave Rider has extensive expertise in project delivery, process development and refinement, methodology implementation, governance implementation and business change. Additionally, he holds a professional accounting license with expertise in public accounting as well as not-for-profit organizations.

He is currently a PGA golf professional, coaching students to develop their game and boost confidence. Since turning professional, he has won five times and holds the course record at La Contenta G.C.

Dave has also achieved success in the film industry, appearing in several notable films and theater productions such as Gray Lady Down (1978), Mean Streets (1973), Bird on a Wire 1990 and Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) and Vol. 2 (2004) for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. Additionally, his background in music includes playing bass in jazz bands and singing onstage.

He is survived by his wife Elisabete and children Ben and Lindsay.

His hobbies included traveling and hunting. Additionally, he was an avid fisherman.

He owned a small jet airplane which he often used for cross-country travels. As an athlete, he achieved fame by landing the first double backflip in freestyle BMX competitions.

He taught many people how to fly and he mentored many more. According to his friends, he was always willing to give back; doing this out of a belief in helping others without seeking recognition or praise.
