Early Life and Education
David Crozier was born on May 24, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio to Howard Wayne and Carol Marie (Smith) Crozier.
He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1981 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Subsequently, he became a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and served as trustee for eight years on Huntington’s Disease Society’s board in Cleveland.
He served our Nation for 18+ years as both president of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and director, command communications at DAR Civilian. In 1999 he retired with over 18+ years of service under his belt.

David Crozier has had a prestigious career in the insurance industry. Most recently, he was appointed President of Markel Canada, an exclusive specialist insurer.
He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Everest Insurance Company of Canada and has extensive leadership experience within the industry, having held senior roles at Economical Mutual Insurance Company and Chubb Insurance Company of Canada.
He has a deep-seated passion for the ocean and sea safety, serving as Anuxiliary Coastguard at NCI Porthcawl. Additionally, he was instrumental in planning for a new station at Shoreham and sits on NCI’s Board.

His passion and devotion to Northwest will always be felt. From his first step onto campus until his final goodbye, he was an integral part of Northwest’s growth as a university.
He always made sure his family wore green, and his son Ken followed in his footsteps and attended Northwest High School as well.
He has earned several honors throughout his career, such as induction into the M-Club Hall of Fame for this year’s class.

David Crozier’s personal life revolves around his family. He has a wife and two children, as well as his pet dogs and cats.
He loves playing drums and listening to progressive rock bands such as Tool and Porcupine Tree. Additionally, he enjoys reading books and spending time with his family.
As a teenager, David joined Baltimore-based progressive rock band Deaf Scene. They recorded one full length album together and toured extensively around the East Coast and Midwest.
He received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and also taught private drum lessons at the School of Rock Columbia in Maryland. With an enthusiasm for teaching children, he believes music has the power to transform their lives.
