Humphreys was a Continental officer, diplomat and poet born in Derby, Connecticut on July 10th 1752. He served as an aide-de-camp to General George Washington for two years and then settled at Mount Vernon where he continued writing poetry until his death in 1785.
Early Life and Education
David Hampton was a star hurdler and quarterback on the top football team in Arlington during his high school years, according to coach Bob Potter. Additionally, Hampton excelled academically as well.
He had considered attending law school, but his mentor at Eastern Star Church, Jeffrey Johnson, encouraged him to pursue seminary and become a pastor.
Hampton’s decision proved successful; eventually he was asked to lead an historic church in Brooklyn, New York.

Additionally, Hampton has advocated for prisoner re-entry policies, food deserts and mental health services.
Senior pastor of Light of the World Christian Church, he dedicates a considerable amount of time to both preaching the Word and city duties. On weekdays, he works eight hours with the city and four at his church; additionally, he often takes on additional pastoral responsibilities like weddings or funerals as needed.

Hampton was born on April 28, 1964 in Buffalo, New York and raised as the eldest son of an attorney. He began his career as a con artist and achieved notoriety during the 1980s by defrauding wealthy Manhattanites out of thousands of dollars by falsely claiming to be Sidney Poitier’s son.
In October 1983, he was arrested and found guilty of fraud; ordered to pay restitution to his victims. When he refused to comply with these terms, he was sentenced to 18 months to 4 years in prison before succumbing to AIDS-related complications in 2003.
