David Vasserman, 21, of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, Passed Away on February 9

David Vasserman, 21, was a student at Colorado School of Mines when he tragically passed away from an accidental skiing accident at Copper Mountain. Originally from Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, his hometown had been devastated by this tragic loss.

He was skiing a run called Bradley’s Plunge in Copper Bowl area of Copper Mountain when his helmet failed him. Thankfully, he was wearing it at the time.

Early Life and Education

Vasserman, originally from Huntingdon Valley in Pennsylvania and a Colorado School of Mines senior majoring in petroleum engineering who was set to graduate this May. On February 9th he lost control while skiing at Copper Bowl area at Copper Mountain Resort and hit a rock, leading to his death. According to Summit County Coroner’s Office the accident occurred on Bradley’s Plunge run which is classified as extreme terrain; the cause was exsanguination or blood loss – making this the fourth skier death within Summit County over the past 20 days.

Vasserman not only excelled athletically for the Lancers, but he was an impressive lacrosse player as well, earning him interest from Division III schools.

David has been a legendary figure in New York’s audio business since the founding of Stereo Exchange. He began as a salesman, then built it into an expansive national presence and an iconic brand name within the industry. David attributes his success to an eye for good ideas, relentless commitment to quality control and just enough luck.

His love of fishing can be seen through his impressive collection of fishing trophies. Recently, Stanford GSB faculty recognized him with the Robert T. Davis Award – an prestigious recognition that recognizes extraordinary lifetime contributions to the school. Aside from fishing, he spearheaded many innovative learning initiatives and spearheaded other technological advances that have made the GSB a world-class institution.

David Vasserman is a political analyst and contributor to NBC News. He has also written for notable publications such as Politico and The New York Times. An experienced speaker, Vasserman has appeared on C-SPAN, CNN, Fox News and NPR programs.

Vasserman hails from Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania and attended Colorado School of Mines in Golden as a petroleum engineering major and member of their club rugby team.
