Derthick Corn Maze
Derthick Corn Maze and Farm Experience
The Derthick corn maze is over 200 years old. A local farm in Cleveland, New York, is the oldest corn maze in the state. The Derthick family started this farm in 1958 as a milking parlor, but the production of potatoes was stopped in the mid-1950s. Philip Derthick, who runs the farm today, added a corn maze in 2006. The corn maze is an educational and fun place to explore the history of the area.
The Derthick Corn Maze and Farm Experience are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1-11 p.m. Admission to the corn maze and farm experience costs $8 per person. Children under 3 years old are eligible for free admission. The farm also offers a pumpkin patch. Proceeds from the pumpkin sale will go to the Meghan R. Brant Memorial Fund. The Derthick Corn Maze and Farm Experience is a great place for families to spend a day during the fall.
The Derthick family transformed their 200-year-old farm into an outdoor adventure. It is the largest corn maze professionally cut in NE Ohio, and is located between Youngstown and Akron. Its path runs 2.4 miles and features two ziplines that reach 300 feet. During your visit, you’ll experience an authentic farm setting and learn about the agricultural history of the area. The farm boasts many unique attractions, such as a bouncing cow train.
In order to create a corn maze that is fun for families, the right type of corn must be planted. The corn must be strong enough to support the maze. To prevent rot, it is important to watch the stalks. Two common problems that can lead to corn mazes are improper fertilization and a lack of water. These can be prevented by checking corn stalks regularly. If you’re planning to set up a corn maze, make sure that you have a regular plan for its care.
Many local farms offer corn mazes during the fall months. Some even offer games and scavenger huntings. You can also enjoy other fall activities like apple picking, pumpkin picking, hayrides, and bonfires. Many of these farms accept credit cards. This makes it easy to plan a trip everyone will enjoy. A corn maze is a great way to spend the day with friends and family.

These are great for young children to play in, while older children will enjoy a round-bale maze, soybean maze, and smaller corn maze. There’s also a corn cannon and a tennis ball cannon. These cannons can be used to shoot at each other by the kids!
