George Owers was one of twelve children born to George and Jane, a Jarrow coal merchant couple who relocated south in the late 1890s. Over time they settled in Guelph, Ontario where they raised two more generations of Owers.
Owers has been an avid snooker fan for more years than he cared to recall, so it comes as no surprise that he has a deep-seated passion for the game.
