John Benevides was born on November 9, 1918 in Taunton, Massachusetts. He was the son of Francisca L Sousa Benevides and John Domingo Benevides.
He was a proud member of the Army and retired as a sergeant after serving in Japan. He lived a full life with his wife Franny and two children. He enjoyed traveling, RV-ing across the USA, gardening and dancing to polkas with his family.
He was reported missing on June 17. His body was found by volunteers on Tuesday, after a week of searching. He was a kind and generous man who loved his family.
