John Ciano

John Cianiolo is an experienced and versatile attorney. He offers clients advice and counsel on e-discovery, information governance and data privacy matters.

As a four-year collegiate starter in goal for Central Connecticut State and Manhattan, he began his coaching career on Didier Orellana’s staff at Manhattanville College. Under his guidance, the Saints have achieved numerous remarkable successes during this time – including their first ever undefeated home season (6-0-2).

Early Life and Education

Research has demonstrated that the first three years of a child’s life are critical for their development. Studies have indicated that experiences and interactions during this time shape brain structure and lay the groundwork for future learning.

Early education of a child relies heavily on their relationship with parents and primary caregivers. These interactions form the basis of secure attachment that will guide them as they grow into healthy, productive adults.

Parents are the primary educators for children’s early education, but many other factors also play a role. These include socioeconomic status, culture and the environment they inhabit.

Professional Career

John Ciano is a founding partner of Ciano & Goldwasser, LLP and brings with him an impressive array of legal skillset. A skilled litigator, he takes cases to trial in both state and federal courts.

In addition to his litigation expertise, he also directs the firm’s privacy and data security practice. By helping clients assess their risks, he creates mitigation strategies that proactively abide by legal, privacy and security standards.

His college experience includes playing for Central Connecticut State University (2005-08) and Manhattan College. After earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education, he was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. Since then he has coached at club, regional, and Olympic Development Program levels; being licensed by both United Soccer Federation and United Soccer Coaches with Premier and Advanced National Goalkeeping Diplomas.

Achievements and Honors

Ciano, the 11th mentor in Saint Rose program history, has guided his Golden Knights to the upper echelons of the Northeast-10 Conference and beyond to national recognition. In just six years on Western Avenue, he’s coached 17 all-conference, four all-region and three all-tournament players as well as the league’s 2019 Rookie of the Year.

Ciano, a 2009 Manhattan College graduate, joined the Saints staff after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at New Jersey Institute of Technology under former head coach Cesar Markovic. While there, he assisted in recruiting, tactic and personnel decisions; goalkeeping training sessions; as well as film analysis on games.

Personal Life

John Ciano has an interesting personal life that involves his family. His father Ted Ciano owned and operated a used car dealership for many years in Fresno.

He loves playing guitar and hiking with his wife Debby in their free time. They also have a dog named Donald that they enjoy spending time together.

John Ciano had a rather disreputable private life, yet he managed to make some insightful observations during the war through his diary and diplomatic papers. His lack of principle made him an intriguing political figure.
