John Gallander Passes Away

John Gallander has been a successful businessman for more than 27 years, as well as the author of several books on real estate investing.

His bestseller The Canadian Small Business Survival Guide has sold more than 30,000 copies worldwide and been translated into multiple languages for markets including the U.S., China and Czech Republic.

Early Life and Education

John Gallander was raised in Shelbyville, Illinois and attended the University of Michigan as a star athlete. He excelled on both football fields and tracks alike, serving his country in the Air Force for 35 years while working at U.S. Steel and Lakeside Metals throughout the Midwest before retiring to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Aside from sports, John was also an ardent family man; married for almost 50 years to Barbara Tschantz he devoted himself to her.

John Gallander had an infectious zest for life that brought out the best in him. He loved spending time with his beloved wife of 49 years and spending quality time with his two children and their families; a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by all.

Professional Career

John Gallander is an experienced real estate executive with 27 years in the industry. Previously, he served as Country Managing Director for Knight Frank Vietnam before being recruited as Director by Savills in Hanoi.

Mr Gallanders, as Chief Officer of AVOW, plays an integral role in managing and administering the organisation. Furthermore, he serves as trustee to the charity with fiduciary responsibilities towards it. The Tribunal found it improper for him to write a letter without first seeking permission from the chair of trustees – further evidence of his bad faith and abuse of position as respondent’s chief officer.

Personal Life

John Gallander was a dedicated and passionate father, grandfather, and uncle. Survived by his daughter Pamela (John) Mandelker; son John Gallander III; brother James Gallander; sister Janet Gallander; nephews Alison and Susan Mandelker, Jordan and Walker Gallander and Gavin Doyle; as well as many nieces and nephews he loved to watch the Cardinals play. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him; donations in his name may be made to either Humane Society of Missouri or Cardinals Care organizations.
