John Hardaway, MD, is a general surgeon in Augusta, Georgia. He is affiliated with Doctors Hospital of Augusta and has over 11 years of experience.

He completed medical school at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine and went on to complete a residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego.

Early Life and Education

Hardaway grew up in the Binghampton neighborhood of shotgun houses on the east side of Memphis. He and his friend Merriweather bonded on the concrete basketball courts there as young boys.

He earned a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Memphis, now the University of Memphis State. He graduated with a 3.4 cumulative GPA.

In college, Hardaway made his mark on the national scene with a number of standout performances. He was also a key member of the collegiate team, which made it to the NCAA Championships in 1991.
