John Olivo is the President at Fresh Express, a grocery retail company with an estimated 3,000 employees. Founded in 1926, Fresh Express provides grocery stores with packaged, ready-to-eat salads.
From 1996-2001, he served as Banadex’s chief financial officer in Colombia. At the time, he was responsible for authorizing payments to guerrilla and paramilitary groups in Colombia.
Early Life and Education
john olivo was born in 1925. He lived in Providence, Rhode Island with his parents and siblings.
After graduating from high school, he enrolled in a local college. He then attended Columbia University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and minored in economics.
While at Columbia, he became involved in student government and was part of the Executive Cabinet. He said he felt like the support of the faculty and other university personnel helped him through his time at the college.

John Olivo was a founding partner of the intellectual property law firm of Ward & Olivo, which represented clients in all fields of patent, trademark and copyright litigation. In addition to its traditional hourly fee based defense practice, the firm also developed and aggressively defended the rights of plaintiffs in complex patent enforcement claims on a contingent fee basis.
The firm was strategically dissolved in 2011. Jack now serves his intellectual property enforcement clients through the Olivo Law Group and the Olivo Patent Group, a newly formed joint venture with Heninger Garrison Davis.
Olivo was born into a family of Italian immigrants. At Christmastime, he usually visited his paternal grandparents’ house in Arnold, Pennsylvania.

He was also the first and only actor to win a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway production of West Side Story.
