John Stayrook, 60, of Medina, Ohio, Died Sunday of COVID-19 in the Line of Duty
John Stayrook was an agent with the Medina County Drug Task Force. He died as a result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.
He is survived by his wife, children, and two grandchildren. There will be a memorial celebration for him at the Performing Arts Center in Brunswick on February 20 from 1 to 3 p.m.

john stayrook was born on October 15, 1961. He currently resides in Broadview Heights, Ohio and was married to Pamela. He has no children in their household and earns an estimated income of $150-174K per year.
During his life, he has achieved several accolades. Among them, he was a member of the Medina County Drug Task Force. He was a passionate law enforcement agent and helped better the communities he served, family members and colleagues said.
He was also an avid bowler and won multiple titles. He was a very good competitor and was nicknamed “The Rock.” His best year was in 1995, when he won two titles and earned $137,330 in season earnings. He also received the Medina County Fraternal Order of Police – Lodge 204 Bowling Award.

In his spare time, Stayrook enjoyed woodworking in his garage, where he made animals, rocking horses and one-of-a-kind items. He also liked camping with his family and friends. A memorial to honor his memory will be held at the Performing Arts Center in Brunswick on February 20 from 1-3 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Pamela; son Adam; daughter Jacqueline; brother Blain; sister Margaret; and two grandchildren.
Personal Life
John Stayrook was a passionate law enforcement officer who dedicated himself to serving the people of Medina County. He joined the drug task force in 2007 after four years with a similar agency in Wayne County, said Medina County Sheriff Terry Grice.
In his final months, he was diagnosed with COVID-19, which he contracted in the line of duty. This led to a decline in his mental capacity, Grice said.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela; his children, Adam and Jacqueline; and two grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Blain and Margaret.
