Larrick Daniels Passes Away at 64
Larrick Daniels, 64 years old and son of Thomas and Maxine Daniels, died December 25th 2022 from liver cancer. A 1981 initiate of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Asbury Park Neptune Alumni Chapter; Larrick worked as a teacher while remaining an active part of his community; leaving behind his wife, two sons, three daughters as well as four brothers and a sister behind in their wake.
Early Life and Education
Larrick Daniels was born in Washington DC to Thomas and Maxine Larrick and attended Palmer Elementary School and Twelfth Street School before enrolling at Oshkosh State University to receive her Bachelor of Science in education degree.
After graduating, she worked in Asbury Park Public Schools system as a teacher for many years and also joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc’s Asbury Park Neptune Alumni Chapter as an active member.
As well as teaching, she also refined her artistic talents through theater. In 1987 she established Le Noir Cabaret Productions which produced Black centered contemporary plays such as Siboniso and Moments in Love. Additionally she worked at Lady Pitts School which provided comprehensive services for pregnant and parenting students.
Professional Career
He is known to his family as having an admirable work ethic and quick learning capabilities, having held various professional roles including laboratory director. Furthermore, he has received multiple prestigious awards in recognition of his achievements including radar systems, electronic warfare systems and navigation systems development projects.
He played professional basketball for six different NBA teams, such as the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors. Most notably, during one game against the New York Knicks in 1994 he scored 30 points to electrify the crowd and dazzle opponents alike.
Wood County Republican party official filed a formal complaint against Larrick with the Lawyer Disciplinary Board in 2018. Their claims included his operation of his private law practice while serving as lottery director; violating West Virginia law.
Achievement and Honors
Daniels achieved numerous professional accomplishments throughout his life and career. These included membership with both Army Aviation Association of America and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers as well as publishing numerous articles and papers about air traffic control systems, navigation systems, satellite systems, identification friend or foe equipment identification methods and meteorological data systems.
He enjoyed honing his artistic skills through theater, founding Le Noir Cabaret Productions Inc. He was also an excellent educator who earned grants for technology while spearheading elementary school spelling bee programs and spearheaded spelling bee programs through Le Noir Cabaret Productions Inc. Finally, he belonged to Asbury Park Neptune Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.
Larrick passed away on December 25, 2022 and is survived by his children: Cherrick, Bryon, Charles, Danny and Dana as well as grandchildren Donnie Jr., Breasia Bailey and Brooklyn. Additionally he leaves behind siblings Michael with Lisa as his spouse; Kevin with KayKay KayKay KayKay KayKay Daryl Raun as well as many nieces and nephews.
Personal Life
Larrick Daniels was happily married to Maxine (nee Daniels) for more than fifty years, enjoying both church services together as well as social events hosted by friends and family members.
He also developed his musical talent, playing piano and bongo drums at various performances throughout various venues with Kap-Sig Theatre Group Inc.
As we mourn his loss on December 25, 2022, Maxine leaves behind four sons (Cherrick, Bryon and Charles); daughters Danisha and Breyonna; grandchildren Donnie Jr, Breasia Bailey and Brooklyn; four siblings (Michael with Lisa as wife; Kevin with KayKay as wife; Daryl; Raun); as well as numerous nieces and nephews who continue his musical legacy. Maxine first discovered her love of music through participating in college choir all four years of study.
