Ohana Animal Rescue in Tempe, Arizona is not just about saving animals. They also provide training, adoption, and animal rehoming services. Their pet friendly office complex is located near Tempe Town Lake and is one of the largest animal facilities in the state. In the past few years, Ohana has helped over 430 animals find new homes.

Although the name Ohana may be a mouthful, they have been serving the community for the past five years. In that time, the shelter has rescued over 150 animals, making it the largest dog rescue facility in the state. The facility is located on a 3+ acre lot, making it large enough to accomodate a dozen dogs at a time. Since its inception, Ohana has managed to secure a certified trainer and an animal rehoming specialist for its growing list of canines. However, the organization’s recent troubles have left it in need of a major overhaul. As such, its operations have been temporarily shuttered. On top of that, Ohana is in need of about 40 new adoptable pets.

Founded in 2013, Ohana is a three person operation whose employees are responsible for rescuing, caring for, and rehoming a variety of canines. Some of its most notable animals are Aurora, a rescued black dog, and her sister, an English bulldog. One of the best parts of this small operation is the fact that most of its work is performed by volunteers. Many of these people are aficionados who love their pets so much that they are willing to devote their lives to saving them. To help the cause, the nonprofit is currently seeking volunteers to assist with rehoming efforts.
