Tom Destefano was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Sicilian immigrants Thomas and Salvatrice. After attending Heelan High School he served in the Navy for three years as well as becoming a lifelong member of Hudson County Dental Society and American Legion. Tom DeStefano left behind four children; Thomas F. DeStefano of Bloomington Indiana; Michael W DeStefano who lived in Charlotte North Carolina; Janet Tauro who resided in Brick, New Jersey as well as Anna May Maas who lived Cedar Grove Cedar Grove New Jersey as well as four grand and seven great grandsons who survived him as well.

Achievement and Honors
Thomas Destefano was an outstanding athlete, earning two varsity letters in soccer and all-county recognition during his time at Sparta High School. A gifted 3-point shooter, Thomas also enjoyed taking some basketball classes at Morris County Community College (MCCC).
At MCCC, he was honored with membership into the National Honor Society and received Academic All-America recognition. Additionally, he served as coach for both boys’ and girls’ soccer teams at MCCC.
Tom Destefano passed away peacefully on February 4th 2023 after living a full and fulfilling life with 5 siblings and 1 wife (Tracey Destefano), producing one child before parting ways after 28 years together and living in New York state.
Thomas DeStefano was an avid reader and fan of sports, particularly Los Angeles Angels and LA Clippers. He also deeply loved his family, always being there when needed.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who is survived by his wife Joan; children Mary (Dr. Brandt Ruszkiewicz) DeStefano from Bloomington Indiana; Michael W. Destefano of Charlotte North Carolina and Janet Tauro from Brick New Jersey as well as grandchildren Bernie Maas, Matthew DeStefano and Joseph DeStefano with great-grandchildren Henry Warren Bruna Maas.
Thomas presents heaven with clarity and logic, creating a vivid physical manifestation with amazing places to go and activities to do, luxurious amenities for pampering oneself with, and deep, abiding joy. His book provides an accessible yet entertaining portrayal of heaven – a subject which has long fascinated, perplexed and comforted humankind throughout its existence.
Thomas Destefano earned a doctorate of physical therapy from New York Institute of Technology in 2010. Prior to 2013, when he started full-time comedy performance, Thomas worked in pediatric physical therapy practice.
As well as his comedy talents, he is widely considered one of Nashville’s premier contemporary country songwriters, co-writing numerous No.1 hits for Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert among many other singers.
He currently resides at 3520 Birkdale Ln in Palm Harbor FL 34684 of Pinellas county and has lived here since January 2016.
